How to Know God

1) Admit that you are a sinner, separated from God
First, you must admit your spiritual need: "There is none righteous, no, not one" (Romans 3:10). We can't make excuses or blame others and our circumstances for our actions. "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" (Romans 3:23). The penalty for refusing to acknowledge these facts are eternal, permanent separation from God. “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).

2) Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus paid the price for your sin, and we must look to Him as the only way of forgiveness. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

3) Repent of your sins
The word "repent" means to change your direction. The Bible tells us, "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19). God commands us to repent. You must be willing to turn away from the things that displease God.

4) Accept Jesus as your Savior
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). You must accept the gift of eternal life through Jesus by faith, and it is essential that you come to Jesus as you are. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36).
